Scholarships
Overview
The fwd:cloudsec scholarship program supports individuals who would benefit from attending the conference but face financial barriers. We welcome applications from students, career changers, and self-taught practitioners passionate about cloud security.
Eligibility
- Must be 18 years or older at time of the event
- Submissions must be in English
What’s Covered
Selected recipients receive:
- Conference registration (non-transferable, non-exchangeable)
- Reimbursement of eligible travel expenses up to $1000
Eligible Expenses
- Roundtrip airfare
- Hotel accommodations for conference nights only
- Ground transportation to/from airport (up to 2 rideshares)
- Reasonable meal expenses while traveling to/from the conference
Not Eligible
- Rental cars
- Meals beyond what the conference provides
- Extended stays or extra hotel nights
Attendance Requirement
This scholarship covers conference registration and reimbursement of eligible travel expenses. Reimbursement is contingent on attending both days of the conference. Recipients who do not attend will not be eligible for expense reimbursement.
Exceptions for documented emergencies may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Reimbursement Process
- Book your own travel after acceptance
- Attend both days of the conference
- Submit receipts for eligible expenses within 30 days after the conference
- Receive reimbursement up to $1000

Application Requirements
For current students:
- Proof of full-time enrollment (Valid university ID card. etc)
- Letter of recommendation from an instructor (encouraged)
For career changers / self-taught:
- Signed letter of recommendation from a mentor or manager
All applicants must address:
- Name, school/year (if applicable)
- LinkedIn and/or GitHub links
- Why do you want to come to fwd:cloudsec?
- What do you hope to learn?
- Have you been to any other information security conferences? Which ones?
- What career and/or degree are you pursuing?
- What is a conference talk about Cybersecurity/Cloud that fascinated you?
- Describe a cloud security project or learning experience you’ve pursued on your own.
